What makes a great film, television program, book, poem, painting, photograph...? The pieces that tell a good story...real stories ring true and strike chords. Chords of praise, discontent, happiness, horror, rage, even outrage. Think about your favorite film. What made it stick in your unconscious? What made it resonate, touch hearts, souls. The story. Whether through strong narrative, theme or visuals, this is the one element that trumps all tricky techniques or camera angles. Nothing can replace it; nothing can cover the lack thereof.
